UD REP Theater: Inherit the Wind

  • Roselle Center for the Arts 110 Orchard Road Newark, DE 19711 (map)

Presented by the Resident Ensemble Players, Delaware's resident professional acting company, performing at the University of Delaware.

“It’s not about science versus religion. It is about the right to think.”

One of the most famous trials in U.S. history is the inspiration for this this sizzling courtroom drama. During the Scopes “monkey trial” of 1925, the focus of the entire nation is riveted on a small town courthouse where a high school science teacher faces prison for teaching Darwin’s theories of evolution. This searing and moving drama centers on cultural conflicts still being hotly debated today – church vs. state, fundamentalism vs. freedom of belief, and the sanctity of faith vs. the right to think – in a brilliant boxing match between two of the greatest legal giants of the twentieth century.

Inherit the Wind runs approximately two hours and fifteen minutes, including one intermission.
